DNSBL Removal Process
Our objective is to add and remove DNSBL listings in accordance with the listing policy as uniformly, expeditiously and consistently as possible. The removal of expired and inaccurate listings is our highest priority.
Obviously, timely removals reduce false positives. Of equal importance;
Removal requests are an integral part of our quality control initiative.
The removal process starts with the list removal form. Upon submission, this triggers a script that provides the following information by email:
- rDNS of the IP address.
- IP address of the resolved host. Does the host resolve back to the same IP address?
- Database query summarizing all activity correspondence and comments within the past year.
- A "Dig" of the resolved host name.
- A summary of other major blacklist inclusions.
This information is then combined with the removal request for review. Within minutes, it is possible to determine if a listing has expired or is inaccurate. The submitter is promptly informed, either way, by return email. The reply triggers another script that updates the database and removes the listing if applicable. If the listing is maintained, the listee is provided with a specific reason why as well as a description of whatever additional action is required to remove the listing.
IMPORTANT: Please do not attempt to send email directly to us if your IP address is listed or while a removal is pending! Removals are scripted to our local data files immediately. The data files are synced to the DNSBL mirrors every 30 minutes. Thereafter, results MAY be cached for an indeterminable period of time
