How to Avoid and Correct Erroneous Dynamic Listings

There are three simple ways to avoid and correct incorrect dynamic listings:

  1. If your IP is incorrectly listed as dynamic, it is primarily because your ISP has not cooperated with us by providing us with range listings. Please contact them and ask them to do so; It benefits the ISP, their customers and everyone else who does not wish to receive email from dynamic hosts.
  2. Non-generic reverse pointers to your domain will prevent our daemon from identifying your IP address as dynamic. Host names that look like "xx-xxx-xxx-xx.region.isp.tld" appear to be part of a dynamic range. Changing that to something like "mail.yourdomain.tld" will prevent this problem and provide accountability. Increasingly, mail servers are filtering on generic host names. Host naming is irrelevant if your ISP provides us with range listings.
  3. Make sure that you DNS is consistent. Your IP address should point to a host name. The host name may be mapped to several IP addresses; one of which must be the IP address in question.
