Child Safe Network Spam Scam

Now I have seen it all when it comes to spammers. Apparently, these miscreants are using childsafenetwork.org to created the deception that this is some sort of charitable organization.

In point of fact, the domain is registered to Paradigm Direct which seems to be an affiliate of JBR Media Ventures, LLC; both supposedly out of Chevy Chase, MD. This range has become an escalated listing. Surely, they will claim that they are a “100% opt-in e-mailer.”

One look at the website answers that question. I don't want to feed search engines with a link but it's easy enough to find. People who think that they are signing up for a child safety newsletter are actually opting in to various marketing campaigns. Of course you have to read the fine print. Unfortunately, most people don't. Certainly consent is neither clear nor conspicuous.

Shame on them for exploiting children's issues to send spam!

Each spam email contains a small banner in the HTML images that includes verbiage like “Keep Your Children Safe.” The rest is the usual junk. Here are some of the subject lines:
